An enchanting Alpine lake of glacial origin. The basin of spectacular Lake Avostanis is closed to the north by a solid limestone wall, finely chiselled by superficial karst , 100 meters high and almost 300 meters wide.

Travel Information

Take the A23 motorway and exit at Carnia. Continue along the highway towards Passo Monte Croce Carnico (S.S. 52 Bis) up to the hamlet Cleulis, in the Municipality of Paluzza. Close to the bar Pacai turn off right up Via Martiri di Pramosio and continue along the unoaved road to Malga Promosio (1526m) , park here. Walk uphill, gently at first then more steeply, to reach Lake Avostanis (1936m) and the crag after about 1 hour. The crag is located at an altitude of 2000 meters and faces south.
