Italy Palazzo Ducale, Martina Franca
Petracone V Caracciolo, in the late 1600s, as Duke of Martina Franca, built his palace on top of the ruins of the medieval castle of Raimondo Orsini del Balzo, Prince of Taranto and Count of Lecce and Martina. It was ambitious and expensive, meaning it had to be finished by his successors.
Today, there are municipal offices which are not accessible but at the top of the stairs some of the original rooms are accessible. There are also exhibitions and music rooms that are worth exploring.
