Italy Roghudi Vecchio
Isn'it kinda insulting when you are planning a trip and while searching for cool less known places of the country you aiming at you stumble mostly accross videos or articles claiming to show you the supposed "best kept secrets", but instead what you get is just frigging famous places. Well, planning a trip in italy is going to be very likely so, therefore, there you have it "Roghudi Vecchio", ask your italian friend, he never heard of it. In the southernmost tip of the booth, in the often overlooked region of Calabria, nearby the infamous city of Reggio Calabria, tucked in the "aspromonte" literally "rugged mountain" in italian, a zone that has been historically the hideout of brigants and calabrian mafia "N'drangheta", even it's name isn't italian idiom, and aaahhh yes I forget, it's a ghost town, nobody actually lives there, some houses are opened and still furnished, in one we even found some arrest documents dated '93 left on the kitchen table.
Photography Tips
Take your time, avoid summer if you lookin' for more interesting colors, and mostly important, don't forget your camera like I did when I went there, I just had a shitty phone.
Travel Information
Car, or a helicopter, but yes the car is the best option, roads aren't the best, yet paved, it's true that this area was historically occupied by hidden gangsters, but those are either dead or to old to arm, and their younger grandchilds prefere to make money importing drugs in Rotterdam or scamming some european fund trown down this region, kidnapping is way too old fashion even on the Aspromonte, so don't worry.
