Italy Santnerpass hut, Santnerpasshütte

Probably the most impressive mountain hut in the whole Dolomites. Since the renovation it looks more UFO-Like. A must do if fit and save in hiking.

Just simply ask the owners if a drone flight and photos from the hut are okay. They are mostly highly appreciated (2021). Sunrise offers the bist cutting edge light.

From Vigo di Fassa you can either take the cable car or start your hike. The total difference in height is 1.428m (cable car covers around 650m). The hike lets you pass several huts till you reach a steeper part after the Rifugio Vajolet. Take the path up to the "Gartlhütte". Some parts are secured by a rope. For savety reasons due to loose rock, better bring a helmet. The hike all the way to the Santnerpass hut takes around 3h. In 2022 and 2023 it got renovated and reopened with a higher capacity. Make still sure to reserve your spot well in advance.
