Italy Abandoned Mine 'Seddas Moddizis', Sardinia
The story of the Seddas Moddizis mine, located near Gonnesa, centers on engineer Giorgio Asproni who took over in 1870. He shifted the focus from silver to calamine (zinc ore) extraction, leading to significant production. Asproni managed the mine with a determined and authoritarian style. However, from the 1920s, the mine faced financial difficulties, leading to its decline. After Asproni died in 1936, his family sold the mine to the Monteponi Company. The mine closed in 1963 and is now abandoned, with the area fenced off for safety. Nearby is the Asproni village, which housed the miners and Asproni's family.

Travel Information
It is very easy to access. Park your car anywhere around the mine. There's a very easy entrance to the mine, I marked it on the map. The rest is up to you :)
Unfortunately, all the tunnels are bricked up, but it's a doomy and creepy atmosphere here.
Wear long trousers and good shoes!!! There are sharp stones, glass, and metal all around and it is easy to get injured. Inside the main building take always care, where you go, so always also keep an eye on the ground.
