The Amsicora Shaft is a significant monument of industrial mining archaeology in Arbus, located in the Telle mining area between Montevecchio and Ingurtosu. Opened in 1878, the shaft was constructed in 1915, refurbished in 1938, and reached a depth of 288 meters. It was operational for nearly a century and became a symbol of worker's rights due to the intense labor disputes in the early 1990s, including a month-long occupation of the tunnels by miners. The shaft was closed in 1991 and has since been abandoned. An attempt to convert it into a tourist attraction resulted in a now-abandoned small museum nearby. The site, surrounded by forests and mountains, remains largely undisturbed.

Photography Tips

Bring a fast wide angle lens, as well as some others, a tripod and torches as it will be darker in some parts.

Travel Information

It's is very easy to access. Park your car, where I marked it. There's a very easy entrance to the mine, it's a the small parking. The rest is up to you :)
Unfortunately all the tunnels are bricked up, but nevertheless it's a doomy and creepy atmosphere here.

Wear long trousers and good shoes!!! There's sharp stones, glass, metal all around and it is easy to get injured. Inside the main building take always care, where you go, so always also keep an eye on the ground.
