Italy Taormina
Situated at the north-eastern side of Sicily this beautiful old town with a medieval historic centre is huddling against the steep hillslope between Isola Bella at the sea and the famous Teatro Greco above. Taormina at least since the era of enlightenment was a German ‘Shangri-La’ and also my high expectations have not been disappointed: a network of alleyways, a rich floridity beautifying even those more trivial parts of the town and the wealth of beautiful old houses, aged in that specific charming Italian way provide nice views on every corner.
Above Taormina the mountains are towering, opposite to it the blue sea is sparkling in the setting sun and not too far away you can see the majestic-looking active volcano mount Etna.

Photography Tips
As always in the Mediterranean area May and June seem to be the best travelling times: It is not yet that hot and there a less tourists in town. Be there before or after the masses from the cruise ships have flooded the town.
