The Tre Cime formation is THE icon of the Dolomites. Some of the best landscape photographers around the world have shot their award-winning images here. The shot presented here is far from original, but it's one of those you just have to bag if you're ever in the area.

Photography Tips

It's a place known for dark skies and terrific perspectives of the Milky Way. Nightscapes seem to be the best option here. It's also the time the least amount of people are out and about.

Travel Information

With many rifugio all around, it's quite easy to find a place to sleep and something to eat. It is quite the walk all the way from the carpark near rifugio Auronzo to this spot, but with some amount of determination, I'm sure you can do it.
Spot Type Outdoor
Crowd Factor A decent amount of people
Best Timing Sunset in summer
Sunrise & Sunset 07:48 - 16:26 | current local time: 09:23
Photo Themes Hiking trail Landscape Mountains Night

This is at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo location. But I think this is Cadini di Misurina . Great shot though!

Hey Ian, could you please clarify which photo you meant? The best would be to comment on the photo itself (there is a button next to the like button) so that the uploader of the photo is notified. Thank you very much, Manuel

Pardon me Manuel. I now know a spot comment is not necessarily a photo comment. Sorry. You must get this a lot I guess..

the photo wrongly captioned Tre Cime di Lavaredo is by Sadek Khafagy

No worries, if this happens a lot then it's definitely my fault for not making it easier to understand... ;-) I wrote Sadek now. It's the photo with the building right? Or which one exactly?

https://www.locationscout.net/italy/9391-tre-cime-di-lavaredo/62416 In fact I find the Cadini more spectacular than the more famous Tre Cime next to them

Okay thank you. I will ask for it, but it could also just be a tele photo taken from this spot. The building is directly near the Tre Cime? Because then this photo is okay although I prefer to have different framings that are like an entirely different spot as a different spot.

it`s been years since I`ve been there. Wherever he took it from, whether from the road to the refuge or from slightly nearer, the Tre Cime will have been behind his back. But yes probably a telephoto shot. He was likely physically nearer to the Tre Cime than the Cadini
