Itsukushima Shrine is located on Miyajima island, close to Hiroshima, Japan. One of the most scenic shrines in Japan. The island in general is extremely beautiful and worth a visit.

Photography Tips

Check the tide before you go. If it's low tide you can walk under the gate, if its high tide its completely flooded and you can go there by boat. From inside the shrine, you also have a great view, but it costs a small fee for entering. You can also pass the temple and take photos from the sides of the bay.

Travel Information

To get to Miyajima you can take the train from Hiroshima to get to Miyajimaguchi. From there you can take the ferry over to the island. There are cabs on the island but you can do most of the tourist spots by walking.
