Japan Osaka Castle, Osaka
Osaka Castle (Osaka-jo) perches on the apex of a tall hill, high above a beautiful and extensive garden complex in the heart of the bustling Japanese metropolis of Osaka in Western Japan. Although the castle itself is a concrete reconstruction of the original structure, its imposing architecture and gleaming golden gargoyles and crests are still an impressive sight.
Photography Tips
The castle has a panoramic view of the city so there are many angles and moods to explore in this location. The gardens include many cherry and plum blossom trees, allowing photographers to blend classic Japanese icons with the castle architecture in Spring. Autumn too is popular with the Japanese maples turning crimson. At dusk, the castle is illuminated.
Travel Information
The castle is easily reached by rail or subway to the Osaka Business Park stations or Osaka-jo Koen stations. Parking is possible at nearby paid carparks for the Osaka Concert Hall but it is still quite a distance to carry gear from the carparks to the castle grounds.
