Kyrgyz Republic Yurts at Lake Song-Kul

There is hardly another region like Lake Song-Kul where you can marvel at the vast highland grasslands like here. From early summer, farmers settle here in their yurts and live their traditional nomadic life. A good chance to get to know this way of life.

Photography Tips

If you find two yurts, you can position the rising sun perfectly between them. A long focal length of at least 300mm is clearly recommended here. The longer the focal length, the closer you can get the sun to the yurts. Important: The spots of the yurts can change every year. So be creative and see which ones you particularly like along the way, stop and take a photo.

Travel Information

The pass road, which opens in early summer, will take you from the capital Bishkek to this lake in just over three hours by almost any car. There are several yurt camps on site where you can spend the night. Small signs at the side of the road indicate that there are places to sleep. There is always a place available.
