Kyrgyz Republic Nomad life at Lake Song-Kul
There is hardly another region like Lake Song-Kul where you can marvel at the vast highland grasslands like here. From early summer, farmers settle here in their yurts and live their traditional nomadic life. A good chance to get to know this way of life.
Photography Tips
Always have your telephoto lens with you and look out for the already active nomads on their horses in the morning mist / first light. This picture is taken with the Canon RF 100-500mm.
Travel Information
The pass road, which opens in early summer, will take you from the capital Bishkek to this lake in just over three hours by almost any car. There are several yurt camps on site where you can spend the night. Small signs at the side of the road indicate that there are places to sleep. There is always a place available.
