A unique piece of nature on the Curonian Spit in Lithuania. Sometimes if you are lucky enough you can see elks there. The Curonian Spit is a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared by Lithuania in the north and Kaliningrad (Russia) in the south.
Nearby situated is the summer house of the famous german novelist and Nobel Prize laureate Thomas Mann who is especially known for his novels "Buddenbrooks" and "The Magic Mountain".

Travel Information

The easiest way to get on the Curonian Spit is to take the ferry from Klaipeda (Lithuania). Otherwise you'll need a valid visa, because the second way presupposes traveling through the Kaliningrad region which is part of Russia.
Once you are on the Curonian Spit there is only one street from town to town which leads from north to south. Needless to say you have to travel by car.
