The Azure Window, the most famous natural arch of the Island Gozo in Malta , collapsed in March 2017 following a heavy storm. Since than the second natural arch of Gozo, the Wied il-Mielah Window, became more and more famous. Since the ceiling of the window is still thick, you can still enter the window above.

Photography Tips

I shot that photo in July 2018. I did not had the chance to go there at the right time of the day. So this photo is more an inspiration for you, if you would like to go there and take your own shot.

Shooting the photo from this view angle, the whole of the arch looks not that natural to me. But there is a narrow trail to the sea level. Unfortunately it was closed at the day when I was there. When you search for the Wied il-Mielah photos taken from the sea level, the angle of the view turns the arch more to natural forms.

Travel Information

If you would like to visit the place I would recommend to rent a car or a scooter. It is about 45 Minutes driving distance from the Malta ferry pier in Gozo to the Wied il-Mielah Window.
