Martinique Saint Pierre
The small town of Saint Pierre, Martinique, became famous due to the volcanic catastrophe of 1902 which destroyed the town and killed nearly all of its inhabitants. Formerly known as the "Paris of the Caribbean" today Saint Pierre is a quite small town with app. 4300 inhabitants.
Photography Tips
The town still overs a variety of opportunities to capture the destructions caused by Montagne Pelée more than 100 years ago. The best view over the town to the slopes of the volcano (highest peak in the background of the image) can be captured directly from the main road N2 south of the town center.
