Martinique Étang des Salines

The Étang des Salines in southern Martinique is a unique habitat - a mixture of a fresh water lake and a salty lagoon. All year round many birds can be observed here. There's a nature walk at the southwestern edge of the étang.

Photography Tips

Early morning is the best time to get images of the birds (and other wildlife, e.g. crabs). Tele lenses are a must, preferably > 200 mm.

The area can be reached by car via the D9 from Saint Anne. No public transport.
