Mauritius View from Le Morne Brabant Peak

The popular hike up “Le Morne Brabant” is a great way to see both the western and southern sides of the coast. On a clear day, there is an incredible view of the structural reef. Breathtaking!

You will also find one or two curious exotic colorful birds here, such as the Red-whiskered Bulbul. The hike also offers some wildlife here and there, which is why you should pay close attention to your surroundings.

With a 24-70mm lens, you cover a good focal length that can still make the image appear close to the human eye. It's also nice to see a bit of a panorama here despite the zoom, which is ultimately what the view from the summit cross is all about.

For the birds I would recommend a tele-zoom lens.

The summit cross can be reached in about an hour by fast hikers. The route is marked for around 1 1/2 hours. Sturdy footwear is definitely important, as is experience on the mountain. The last 100 vertical meters are exposed climbing sections that really should not be underestimated. So please find out about the route and the challenge beforehand.
