Mauritius Ornament-Taggecko, Le Morne Brabant

On the “Le Morne Brabant” hike, there are plenty of little colorful wonders to see in addition to the longed-for destination of the summit cross, if you just keep your eyes open and take a little more time for your surroundings. These colorful geckos are particularly common on tree bark along the hike. You will come across this species especially in the first half hour of the hike.

You should have a telephoto lens with you for taking pictures of animals. You should also not approach the geckos too quickly, otherwise they will run away. So take your time and open your aperture for the right bokeh.

The summit cross can be reached in about an hour by fast hikers. The route is marked for around 1 1/2 hours. Sturdy footwear is definitely important, as is experience on the mountain. The last 100 vertical meters are exposed climbing sections that really should not be underestimated. So please find out about the route and the challenge beforehand.
