Morocco Water Cistern, El Jadida
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004, this site in El Jadida was originally constructed in the 16th century as a warehouse, likely for storing arms. Later that century, it was transformed into an underground water cistern. A shallow layer of water covers the floor, creating stunning reflections that make it a fantastic spot for photography. The cool and humid atmosphere also provides a refreshing escape from the summer heat. Along with the rampart walls, it is one of the most famous landmarks to visit in El Jadida. Depending on the time of the visit, the cistern can be illuminated not only by artificial lighting but also by natural light streaming through a circular oculus in the ceiling, enhancing the ambiance and making the space even more photogenic.

Photography Tips
Try a late time before they close if you want to have the view for you alone. There are lots of photographic opportunities to play with the light and the reflections in the water. Just make sure to use a higher ISO if you aren't using a tripod to get sharp photos.
