Morocco Madrasa Bou inania, Medina of Fes, Fes
The Medersa Bou Inania, located in Fès, is a Quranic school founded between 1350 and 1355 by Sultan Abu Inan Faris of the Marinid dynasty. It is one of the few madrasas in Fès that has a minaret and served both as a school and a Friday mosque. The madrasa is renowned for its rich and intricate architecture, featuring stucco, carved wood, and mosaic decorations. The central courtyard, surrounded by classrooms and prayer rooms, is a typical example of Marinid architecture. The ablution fountain in the courtyard is still in use, utilized by worshippers for prayer. The madrasa was renovated in the 18th and 20th centuries, making it one of the best-preserved in the medina of Fès.
