Morocco Jardin Majorelle, Marrakesh
Yves Saint Laurent's Jardin Majorelle is a must-see in Marrakech and one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. He designed and built the gardens in the 1920s and lived there until his divorce in the 1950s. Over the year to grew to about 10 acres but cash flow meant this is all that is left. It then fell into decline until the 1980s when Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé acquired and restored it. Saint-Laurent had his ashes spread here. It is now managed by Foundation Jardin Majorelle, a local non-profit organization, i.e. admission fees pay to maintain the place.
The most striking colour in the place is a cobalt blue called Majorelle Blue that is likely to find its way into a lot of your photographs.
