Namibia Pan's Edge
Pan's Edge is the only point near Okaukuejo where you can get really close to the pan.
Photography Tips
They face north-west, so an early morning visit is the best time.
Travel Information
The junction that branches off the "main road" between Okaukuejo and Halail in the direction of Pan's Edge is rarely used and is therefore easy to overlook.
It is located at the coordinates
S19° 09.928' E15° 57.190'
The narrow pad is also little used - and even less maintained. Drive only with a 4x4 drive and only in the dry season. The pad clearly shows how many people have dug their cars here! If you get stuck, you will have to dig yourself out. You will unlikely come across another car - and even less likely that it will stop. Getting a wagon out of the mud is no fun even under normal conditions. A pride of lions lives in this area - so "digging out a wagon" on this pad is on a much higher level...
