Namibia Dunes near Sossusvlei
The Namib-Naukluft National Park offers probably the highest dunes in the world. Spectacular towers of sand pave the way here. A "must-do" on every Namibia trip.
Photography Tips
Photography is only worthwhile in the morning and before sunset. Throughout the day, the high sun is just too hot. In addition, the sand is then no longer bearable and much too hot. Watch out for the winds. The sand can quickly get into your camera. So only take your camera out when necessary. Also it is recommended to hike on other dunes than the "known" ones like Dune45 to avoid people and to find new perspectives.
Travel Information
Sesriem provides a good starting point to enter the park and ultimately provides the only access. It is recommended to sleep directly at the campsite, as you have an hour earlier access in the morning than the other accommodations. Attention, book in advance! The accommodation is always booked up quickly. On the drive to the accommodation you have to let air out of the tires, because the road surface changes to a gravel road with many potholes and it becomes sandier. Listen carefully to the descriptions for vehicles.
