On the way up to the Gokyo Ri summit you want to turn around to see the mountains. It's absolutely stunning when taking breaks.

Photography Tips

If possible, try to separate your subject (prayer flags, person etc.) from the busy background. Contrasts can help here. Otherwise, if you plan enough and being lucky, clouds could do that work, too.

Travel Information

Clouds usually rolling in in the afternoon. Check for the cloud base and if that's fine, go high up! You might have the chance of getting above them.

The summit push from Gokyo is a steep and sweaty but rewarding hike. On 1.7km you cover almost 600m elevation, getting up has high as 5.357m.
