Chukhung is a small lovely mountain village and the climbing gate to Island peak. From here, many expeditions starting. You can really feel the climbing vibe and it's surrounded by beautiful mountains.

Photography Tips

Early morning you find mist in the valleys many times. If you go into the tea houses (no problem normally) you can take photos through the windows, hence getting a higher position.

Travel Information

Chukhung is situated at 4.730m and requires a good acclimatization. From Lukla you can basically follow the Everest Basecamp trek but then from Dingboche, go further up in the direction of Chukhung instead of to Basecamp.
