The way down from the Kongma La Pass to Chukhung will offer a good look on Makalu (8.485m). Its energy sometimes let the craziest clouds form above it.

Photography Tips

Expose for highlights if available. And, there is most of the times clouds forming in the valleys. Be patient and if you wanna show detail, bring your zoom. Especially also the first minutes after sunset giving a great light on these high peaks since they afterglow longer than usual. You might want to use a tripod at that time.

Travel Information

From Chukhung, you take the trail up the path and as soon as you reach around a height of 5.000m you will have the best views on Makalu. You will need to get back up around 300m elevation on a few kilometers.
