I think this site may already be on Location Scout; if so I apologize. However, it is worth repeating as I feel it is one of the best spots along the West Coast Highway in New Zealand. It has it all for the classic landscape with three aspects: fore-, mid- and backgrounds.
The tides here are significant and you will need to check the tide tables to plan the shoot. Be on site two hours before low tide to ensure being able to walk dry. The closer to low tide you are the more tide pools will be exposed and allow starfish to be visible in the foreground.

Photography Tips

Get there plenty early as it takes longer to walk to this site than you think. Remember for the sunset to under expose adequately.

Travel Information

Travel north on Highway 6 from Greymouth and look for the sharp bend at 10 Mile Creek and go another 5km/3miles and notice the parking spots to the left of the road. You will need to walk south along the beach for a good distance to get close enough.
