New Zealand Nevis Road

The Nevis road is the highest public road in New Zealand. Its a dirt road between Cromwell and Kingston and only open in the warmer months. The middle part of the road can be heavily rutted and the road is only recommend for 4WD's.

Dawn or dusk will provide a nice glow to the tussock.

Travel Information

Check at the local information centers to find out about the road condition before leaving.

Drive carefully and if you have to question if your vehicle will make it through any given part, then its time to turn around. There may not be cell coverage so you will be on your own in the middle of nowhere if you get stuck.
