Hector's dolphins, yellow-eyed penguins, fur seals and sea lions, can be found at Curio and Porpoise bays. Yellow Eyed Penguin or Hoioho are critically endangered so please respect all signage and do not disturb them, even being visible will prevent them from leaving the water. Best viewing is at dawn and dusk as they head out or return from a day feeding.

Travel Information

The Catlins is a very remote area of coastline between Dunedin and Invercargill. Plenty to see and do but a fair way from everywhere, best stay the night and pack something for dinner.
