New Zealand Point Kean seal Colony

There Is quite a big seal colony here. If you walk over the rocks at some point you will find the seal Pups who have moved here after their original spot was a bit destroyed by the earthquake. Just move slowly and watch carefully as seals lounge all over the beach and rocks.

Photography Tips

Just move slowly and watch carefully as seals lounge all over the beach and rocks.
When close to the seals just try be as quiet as possible, don't make sudden movements. Seals do charge if they feel threatened.

Travel Information

There is Parking available, but especially during summer it is very busy. the actual spot I found the seal Pups are about 10- 20 min walk from the carpark along the rocks. There is a beautiful peninsula walkway you can take thats about a 40 min loop I think.b
