New Zealand Tokoaanu Old Wharf
Its hard to see why anyone would have built this really long wooden wharf on the southern shore of Lake Taupo but its there. Black swans congregate in the water around it and gulls love the place too. For me, the best view was when I looked back towards the land and see plumes of steam rising from the forest on the hills above, a reminder that this is a geothermal area and an invitation to explore.
Photography Tips
Any lens offers possibilities but a tripod helps.
Travel Information
Wharf Road is sign-posted off State Highway 41 as you head south from the village. The road itself is not sealed but its good. There is plenty of parking beside the wharf.
