New Zealand Wenderholm
This has been a regional park since 1965 on the tidal estuary of the Puhoi and Waiwera rivers. The most accessible area is a peninsular and the occasional whale or dolphin is visible on the beach side. There are a lot of old trees here, including Pohutakawa, a typically gnarled and twisted tree with masses of bright red brush flowers that are typically at their best in December.
Epiphytes are common in New Zealand forest and there are plenty here to.
It’s a nice place for a picnic, a BBQ or even a wedding.
