New Zealand Clinton River, Milford Track

The Clinton Valley offers great views of the Fiordland mountain ranges the tops of which are up to 1500 meters above the valley. The river and the trees provide nice contrasts to the rugged mountain tops that are partly covered in snow.

If the weather is fine, the light can be very hard; in such conditions, consider bracketing your shots. However, be prepared for heavy rainfalls as the weather may change quickly; therefore, take care of good protection for your gear.

The location shown here can only be visited when walking the complete Milford Track which takes 3 1/2 days. The lower end of Clinton Valley can be visited on guided day walks. The start of Milford track is basically only accessible by boat from Te Anau Downs which can be reached either by car or by bus from Te Anau. Booking the trip and track is essential.
