New Zealand 90 Mile Beach and Matapia Island
90 mile beach is an official road in New Zealand. There are some massive sand dunes and a very long beach looking out over the Tasman Sea.
The beach is actually only about 58 miles long, the wider area was named by Captain Cook and it suck for the beach itself. Whilst you can legally drive along it, I would highly recommend doing a organised 4WD bus tour as the local guides provide a lot of information and take you to other beaches in the area

Photography Tips
Finding a subject on a wide open beach is a challenge. Avoid coming home with a snap and think about the image.
Travel Information
Take a tour. There are various entry points if you have a 4WD. But go at low tide and be aware that multiple vehicles get caught in the surf or in quicksand every year.
