New Zealand Pouakai Circuit Reflective Tarn (Mount Taranaki)
The Pouakai Circuit Reflective Tarn is a very small lake. When there is no wind, it offers the chance of a reflection of Mount Taranaki.
This spot is very popular with photographers. There is a small sitting area on site for photographers while they wait for the right light, the right wind or the clouds to move away.

Photography Tips
A tripod and filter are recommended here. Do not take too much material with you, the ascent is strenuous.
In the early morning or evening, the location is most atmospheric.

Travel Information
Park your car at the Mangorei Track Trailhead. From there you can get to the photo spot in two hours if you are sporty. I recommend planning three hours and carrying the equipment slowly up the mountain. You hike through the forest and there are hardly any views until you reach the top. If it has rained, the track is muddy. I recommend hiking boots and a rain jacket.
If you arrive very early or leave late, you should take a headlamp with you.
