New Zealand Hooker Valley Track
This is a great hike/trek along the Hooker Valley beside a glacial stream to the moraine lake at the base of the big glacier coming off Mount Cook. It is an easy hike, that crosses three suspension bridges, with multiple spots for photos . Pick a good weather day; it is incredibly beautiful.
Photography Tips
Arrive early, it can be crowded. Bring a polarizing filter. When you are through there is a really nice statue of Sir Edmund Hillary gazing at Mt. Cook which stands just outside of the hotel. It makes for a great picture.
Travel Information
Drive route 80 to the Mt. Cook National Park and before arriving at the hotel take a right to the Hooker Valley; it is well sign-posted. There is a large parking area with toilets.
