The Lake Matheson is well known for one thing: In still air conditions the reflections in the water are as a mirror with almost no motion on the surface.

Photography Tips

At the spot there is a little platform, where you can stand. Try to go there when the weather conditions are good/clear (i hadn't have that luck). Then you could get an amazing view on Mount Cook and Mount Tasman. But anyway, the lake is worth the visit.

Addition by fototante: This spot is great for taking pictures during sunrise.

Travel Information

Nearby Fox Glacier. Short walk from parking to the lake. The circular track round the lake is easy to hike.
