New Zealand Lake Wanaka from Diamond Lake Track
The views here are less dramatic than those from Roy’s Peak but they’re from further around. In late February, when there is no snow in the mountains.
If time is against you, consider this as an alternative to Roy’s Peak.

Photography Tips
Leave anything unnecessary out of your camera bag for this one – its walking, rather than climbing, and the distances are quite short but they’re steep.
Travel Information
Diamond Lake Car Park is off Mt Aspiring Road, a short drive from Wanaka. The track begins at the edge of the car park and it is relatively steep. It takes you high above Diamond Lake and on up to the point where Lake Wanaka is more visible. If you have time, there are more spectacular views from further up the track to Rocky Peak.
