New Zealand Lupine riverbed near Tekapo
In November to January the lupines are growing wild all over the MacKenzie basin area and are actually considered a noxious weed. This is a spot that is prolific with Lupines and easily accessible.
Photography Tips
Access is easiest from the Tekapo end of the bridge, a bit of a climb down but easy for most. Take some gumboots to walk through the shallow river to get to the best lupines.
Travel Information
This is on the road to Tekapo from Fairlie. There is a great freedom camping spot right there with toilets. Great place to park up and freedom camp and get the sunset and the sunrise the next morning.
