The hot pools are certainly the main attraction, after a 6-7 hour walk it feels really relaxing to enjoy the pools.

Looks like such a nice place, thanks for sharing Ruedi! So it's possible to stay there for the night after this long hike? And do you need to walk the same route back or is there any other path you took?

Yes you can stay at the hut which you have to book in advance. I walked the same way back. However, you can approach it from the eastern side of the Southern Alps, from Mt.Cook Village, most likely not something the average photographer would attempt.
