Norway View towards Sommarøy
A decent and not so crowded spot for photos of northern lights above the ocean. The road bridge to Sommarøy makes a nice line that leads towards the main subject.
Photography Tips
In winter season definitely walk up the hill during daytime first to familiarize with the terrain, which can be tricky when covered with snow. We did a snowshoe hike in the morning to create a path which was easy to follow in the darkness. The rocky plateau offers enough space for a small group.
Travel Information
Around one hour by car from Tromsø. Do not park on the side of the road in winter. In Brensholmen there is a supermarket with a large parking lot and another smaller parking option in the evening: at the bridge (or dam) in the center of the village. From there it's only a 10 minute walk to the entrance of the path, marked with a wooden sign "Turist Sti Ørnfløy". It's located on the left side of Brensholmsvegen, about 100 metres after you've passed the last house of the "Smålia" settlement. The walk up the hill will take about 20 minutes. The spot is exposed to wind, so don't forget warm clothes...
