Norway Sogndalstrand
Sogndalstrand or Sogndalsstranda is a listed settlement in Sokndal municipality in Rogaland. Sogndalstrand is described as a "coastal settlement of national value" and is protected to protect the settlement from development pressure. The settlement was the first cultural environment in Norway to be protected. As of 2021, there are twelve protected cultural environments throughout the country. The cultural environment that is protected includes the wooden housing development from the 18th and 19th centuries with the surrounding cultural landscape. Temporary protection was done in 1994, while final protection was adopted by the Cabinet on 24 June 2005. The protected cultural environment covers an area of approximately 1.16 km2; this also includes sea area.
