Norway Musk oxen in Dovrefjell
Dovrefjell in eastern Norway is known for its wild musk oxen. With a bit of luck, you can spot them from the E6 in the area west of the road between Hjerkinn and Kongsvold Fjeldstue. Binoculars are certainly helpful here.
Photography Tips
A long telephoto lens is a must in any case. If you want to get closer to the animals, you may have to accept a hike of several hours on rough terrain. Please keep a minimum distance of 200 metres from the musk oxen!
Guided tours to the musk oxen are also offered in Dombas, but even then you can't avoid a hike through the fjell.

Travel Information
There is a car park at Hjerkinn near the Snøhetta car park. A smaller car park is the ‘Svone Rasteplass’ further north on the E6. There is no possibility to cross the river and the railway tracks in between!
