Peru Inti Punku Sun Gate, Cusco Region
The Inti Punku Sun Gate is an ancient Inca ruin that was mainly used to hold rituals for Pachamama. In South America, this denotes nature, Mother Earth and the soil - and their appreciation. Breathtaking view of Mount Veronica and the Valley towards Ollantaytambo.
Photography Tips
Since the sunrise often comes from the side, use a wide angle and walk more along the Ridge left side of Inti Punku.
Travel Information
The path up to Inti Punku climbs over 1400 meters in altitude and 8km one way distance if you hike from Ollantaytambo. For the alternative hike from Wispan (21km one way), a guide by a tour company is recommended, because you can also often come into side walls of fog and then quite get lost. Also appropriate hiking apps that work without internet connection are recommended. Bring enough water and food with you.
