Peru Ponds next to Jatun Pucacocha, Ausangate
The ancient Inca trail leads up over the Apacheta Chucura Pass (4,870 m above sea level) and then down to this small ponds. They are just there during the "in between seasons". Great views of the south face of Ausangate and a perfect campsite spot.
Photography Tips
Use the small ponds during the fall season to create a reflection of the object. In other seasons, these Ponds might be empty due to the dry season! In summer at these heights is extreme precaution due to heavy rain and snowfall.
Travel Information
Difficult to get. You need a local, cause there are no parking slots. Near to the roads are living some farmers, where you maybe can park, if the local knows the family or can speak their language for asking them kindly. The hike is challenging with many kilometers. You need to have good conditions, enough water and be fit in high altitude.
