Portugal Ribeira, Porto
When you cross the River Duoro to Vila Nova de Gaia you will have a good view of the City of Porto. Vila Nova de Gaia is the centre of the production of the typical vine. You can have guided tours through some of the cellars and taste some of the sorts of Port Vine.
James writes: Walking along the river bank you will see the traditional boats with wine barrels moored along the river, as well as good views across to Porto and the Ponte D Luis. (You can even get good photos in the rain, as I did!)

Photography Tips
A tripod would be useful (but not necessary) for panorama shots.
Travel Information
You can easily walk from Porto over the lower part of the bridge Luis I. You can also catch a metro which runs on the top of the bridge and then walk down to the spot.
