Portugal View from the highest mountain of Sao Jorge, Azores

This is the view from the highest mountain of Sao Jorge called Pico da Esperança ("Mountain of Hope", 1.053m), which is an amazing island of the Azorean Islands. This is also one of the best views towards Pico Island with the iconic mountain Ponta do Pico, because you might be above the clouds already at this viewpoint, giving you an unobstructed view towards Portugals highest mountain.

There is no general advice for photos, since there are quite a lot of options you have at this amazing viewpoint. It's probably a good idea to use a wider lens and to include the view down there, since using a tele lens looks like you are not really high up at a mountain.
Besides that it's definitely a good idea to be here during the early morning or during sunset, because this doesn't only offer the best light, but also gives you the chance to have some fog passing the mountains nearby.

You can leave your car at the gravel road nearby and walk up the rest for just a few minutes. The best way to drive to this spot is by coming from the west by using the EN3 road to drive to the center of the island and then use the gravel road towards the top. Make sure to drive slowly, because the street is sometimes quite narrow and there is no guardrail to protect you.
