Portugal Nave de Stº António

I woke up before 5 AM to climb up to the "Nave de Stº António", in the Serra da Estrela mountain range, to photograph the sunrise. I had to do a short hike in the middle of the dark and when I arrived at the place I almost gave up. It was really cold (below zero), the gusty wind chilled my bones and the sky was really covered with low level clouds. This difficulties only made the event even more special. For brief moments (it seemed like seconds only) the granite mountains were lit like they were burning.

Make sure you get there in time to scout the place. Don't forget the ND grad filters.

The only way to get there is using your car or hire a taxi.
