Praia da Viola is a small beach at the northern coast of São Miguel, the main island of the Açores. It can only be reached by foot. As the waves and currents are mostly strong, this beach is rarely suitable for swimming. But it offers a lot of opportunities to take impressive images.

Beware of the tides and the waves. At high tide the beach may get lost under strong waves.

Travel Information

A small road leads from Lomba da Maia to the northern coast. Park your car at the end of this road. The beach can be reached in app. 10 - 15 minutes.
