Portugal Surfer at Praia da Arrifana, Western Algarve
Praia da Arrifana is a surfing paradise. It is an incredible pleasure to watch the surfers in the waves or out of the water as they prepare. If you want to go for a swim here, you should be aware of the current and nearby rocks. A number of small restaurants above the beach invite you to enjoy a delicious fish dinner.
Photography Tips
Pick a rather windy day so that the waves are more promising and the gout forms a kind of veil / frame around the surfers in the golden light. I worked here with a telephoto lens 100-500mm. Look for a rather calm spot a little further along the beach.
Travel Information
Come early or well before sunset to get a parking space above the beach. Then you only have a 10-minute walk down. At lunchtime, you'll need a lot of luck to get a free slot.
